Danny

Pomeranian · Male · Senior · 10 years

Meet Danny – small in stature, big in personality! He’s a lively pocket rocket who’s fun and sweet. He enjoys a fuss and a snuggle and will always greet you with a waggy tail. He is motivated by treats and would enjoy learning the odd trick or two. Out and about on his walks, he plods along gently and likes to enjoy sniffing in the countryside. Danny is selective with the doggy pals he chooses; he’ll happily walk with some and may be shy and bark at others. He’ll chase after a squeaky toy but doesn’t show much interest in toy play. He enjoys a likki mat and an easy to do food puzzle toy. Danny is a ten-year-old little Pomeranian looking for a loving home. He could share his home with primary school aged children. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home and out and about would benefit from having doggy pals who are calm, well-socialised and of similar size. He has no history of being around cats, small furries, or livestock. He will probably bark at visitors to let you know they are there; he can cope with a reasonably busy household. He will need to practice his housetraining with plenty of opportunities to go outside and using positive reward training. Danny has been ok to be left alone for a few hours at a time, and this is best built up gradually. Danny travels well in the car.

About Danny

What life with Danny looks like

Danny is a large senior pomeranian dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe in Ilfracombe.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Danny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Danny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ilfracombe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Danny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Danny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ilfracombe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Danny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Danny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ilfracombe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Danny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
