Adopt Louise

Pomeranian · Female · Adult · 4 years

03-06-26 Louise has come to us from a breeder and is now looking for a very special forever home. She is an extremely worried little girl who has had very little positive human socialisation and currently finds people and handling very frightening. At the moment, Louise feels safest keeping her distance and, if pushed beyond her comfort zone, may make the wrong decision and nip purely out of fear. She is a very scared girl who needs understanding, patience and time. Louise will need a calm and quiet adult-only home with no visiting children, and adopters who have experience of helping fearful ex-breeding dogs learn to trust. She relies heavily on the comfort and reassurance of other dogs and will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home who can take her under their wing. Although Louise takes great comfort from other dogs, she can show signs of resource guarding around food. For this reason, she will need to be fed separately from other dogs, and care will need to be taken when giving treats or other high-value food items. Her adopters will need experience of managing this behaviour and the confidence to do so appropriately. Having never lived in a home before, Louise has lots to learn. Her adopters will need to be patient and understanding as she adjusts to home life and learns new skills such as house training. She is not yet ready to begin learning about lead walking or wearing a harness, as handling is still very worrying for her. These things will need to be introduced gradually and at her pace once she feels more comfortable and secure. Louise is a sensitive soul who will need a dedicated home willing to invest time, patience and understanding into helping her build confidence. We will continue to work with her every day, helping her take small steps forward at a pace she is comfortable with. In the right home, with the support of canine friends and experienced adopters, we hope Louise will slowly learn that people can be kind and that life has so much to offer. Louise has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Louise

What life with Louise looks like

Louise is a small adult pomeranian dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Louise, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Louise?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Louise on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Louise if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Louise already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Louise isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Louise and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
