Dardo

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 20 years

Cuddling is highly recommended! Not only because the cute Dardo is still a puppy, but because German Bracken are very people-oriented and love the proximity of their humans, which certainly applies to a German Bracke mixed breed as well. Dardo is a handsome, sturdy puppy with light brown fur, who, despite his large paws, still appears more playful and clumsy than a future independent and endurance-filled hunting dog. That’s exactly who he is. He loves playing with his siblings, but he especially enjoys being with his primary caregiver. He has only had a primary caregiver at the animal shelter, so Dardo is on the lookout for his or her people, with whom he, as a curious, sensitive, and active male dog, not only wants to cuddle but also experience adventures in nature. He will quickly learn how wonderful it is to be a real (hunting) dog, to sniff, run, and learn. He still doesn’t know any of this. How strongly his prey drive is expressed is not yet known. Nor is anything known about his origins. Dardo was abandoned with his siblings, Flecha, Pluma, and Plomo. However, they were deliberately placed at the back door of a volunteer foster parent at the animal shelter, knowing they would end up in good hands. The four puppies were in good health, well-nourished, and likely just set down by their mother. The cuddly Dardo is now searching for a nice home (preferably with a garden) with loving people who enjoy outdoor activities with their dog. As a young puppy, there is still a lot for Dardo to learn. This has the great advantage that with love, patience, and time, Dardo and his or her new primary caregiver(s) can grow into a real team. German Bracken are known for their willingness and ease in learning. Of course, it is still a real task to train the sweet treasure. It will be a lot of fun to learn with him playfully. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Dardo

What life with Dardo looks like

Dardo is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dardo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dardo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dardo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dardo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dardo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dardo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dardo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
