Debbie

Mixed Breed · Male

Debbie is a beautiful, adult female dog. However, you first notice her enormous sad gaze. A gaze that speaks more than a meager note about her past: a dog found in the community of Raciąż. That’s all. We don’t know if she had a home. We don’t know how long she wandered. We don’t know if someone missed her… But all of that seems unlikely because no one has been searching for her. However, we do know that a human in the first contact raises her mistrust, and some people passing by on a walk trigger a clear panic attack. And this tells us the same as her sad eyes – that in the hands of a human, she has not encountered anything particularly good. But – her stay at the animal shelter has allowed us to see another side of Debbie. Right after the spaying surgery, the female dog spent a few days in isolation. And there, in the safe environment of familiar, though rather short-term, people, this canine girl behaves completely differently. She clings and cuddles the people who take care of her. She is dogishly happy and carefree. And this is just the shelter isolation. So imagine how beautifully Debbie blossoms by the side of loving people in a real home. What else do we know about the beautiful Debbie? That she is an exemplary walker: she doesn’t pull, she stays close to the human, she sniffs around, and her reaction to other dogs is neutral. She is not thrown off by cars or bicycles. She is also a very intelligent and clever dog – she can open doors or gates by herself. On walks, she showed a gentle curiosity towards passing children – it’s a bit much to say she is accustomed to them, but perhaps small children don’t evoke any bad associations in her. We dream that Debbie’s gaze will be only happy and joyful. That she finds a place that reciprocates her affections, because it’s evident that she doesn’t lack them. A good home – come.

PL·Show original

Debbie to piękna, dorosła sunia. W pierwszej kolejności widzisz jednak jej ogromnie smutne spojrzenie. Dobry domku - przybywaj.

About Debbie

What life with Debbie looks like

Debbie is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Debbie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Debbie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Debbie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Debbie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Debbie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Debbie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Debbie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
