Demetrius

Chihuahua Β· Male Β· Young Β· 3 years

Meet little Demetrius! Demetrius is a friendly boy who loves people - especially loves children! He will happily seek out attention and a fuss from everyone he meets. He enjoys his walks, loves his toys and enjoys a good game of chase, but knows when it's time to stop and then is happy to settle down. He has been friendly with other dogs but can be a little worried around larger, more animated dogs. He was previously left alone for 4–5 hours and, although he was a little vocal initially, he would settle on his own. Demetrius could live with other animals, as long as they are a match, as well as children of any age. While he would love his own garden, he doesn't necessarily need one. He is a sweet, affectionate boy looking for a home where he can enjoy life's little pleasures! If you are interested in Demetrius, please contact the rehoming team at: , ensuring you have first registered for rehoming on the Battersea website:

About Demetrius

What life with Demetrius looks like

Demetrius is a small young adult chihuahua dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Demetrius, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Demetrius?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Demetrius on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Demetrius if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Demetrius already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Demetrius isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Demetrius and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
