Mr Slippers

Chihuahua · Male · Adult · 3 years

Mr Slippers came in on the 12th of August due to a change in circumstances. He is a sweet boy who is very shy of new people at first and it will take him a while before he is ready to enjoy fuss and attention. Mr Slippers was not walked in his previous home so has not had a lot of life experiences but is already doing well. Mr Slippers was really shut down on arrival and will take a lot of time and patience to settle in a new home. He is very unsure of being fussed and will need to learn this at his own pace. He would prefer a home that is not too busy and somewhere with quieter areas to walk to begin with. Mr Slippers may be able to live with another dog who can help him gain confidence out and about or at least have some regular walking buddies. He has not had experience with children so would prefer an adult only home. He will also need his own, secure garden to help with housetraining. About Mr Slippers

What life with Mr Slippers looks like

Mr Slippers is an adult chihuahua dog waiting at RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mr Slippers, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mr Slippers?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mr Slippers on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mr Slippers if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Mr Slippers already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mr Slippers isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mr Slippers and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
