Adopt Diva

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Diva is a friendly and rare tan who quickly adapted to the shelter’s routines. She is very affectionate with her favorite staff members and becomes overjoyed when they come to visit her. She walks confidently on a leash and is very interested in scents. She is given time to sniff around. Diva has also followed scent trails and been a star. Such gentle games suit her well as she can be a bit too excitable and nearly knock herself out. She would rather have some gentle sit-downs together with the obligatory snuggling. Diva’s best friends are her sister Donna and stylish HH Cacio. He is an inviting and friendly boy who likes to share his friendship and security with new and slightly insecure dogs. At first, Diva thought he was big and intimidating, but after a few minutes, she invited him to play – and they have played every time they’ve been together since then. Eventually, Diva gets tired and then trots off to calmly rest for herself. She also gets along well with other dogs and communicates with fine canine language. Diva has met some of the shelter’s cats and was positively curious. Now, sweet Diva is looking for a home where she can be a family member in every sense. Diva wishes for a home that is a bit more tranquil and where there are nice walking areas nearby. A kind and happy doggy companion would be very much appreciated – one who, like Cacio, can be her mentor and security. Cats not accepted. No small children in the home. As always, it is for the owner to have understanding for Diva’s background, which is largely unknown. She must never be pressured where she feels insecure – among new people and in new environments. BackgroundNew Year’s Eve, cold and miserable. In the evening, celebrations were being prepared. Someone had decided to start the new year by getting rid of their dogs. Two German volunteers were working temporarily at the shelter and were on their way there when they saw two young dogs running back and forth across the street – clearly both confused and desperate.

Katt ok. Ej småbarn i hemmet. About Diva

What life with Diva looks like

Diva is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundhjälpen in Stockholm.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Diva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Diva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundhjälpen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Diva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Diva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundhjälpen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Diva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Diva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundhjälpen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Diva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
