Dobby &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 12 months

On time for the 2024 Olympic Games, a talented Andalusian ballsports performer is looking for a Dobby. Dobby is a funny Labrador-Mix mix who is just over two and a half years old (as of August 2024). The first 12 months of Dobby's life were spent on a leash, as our beloved clown belonged to a shepherd who kept Dobby as a guard dog on the farm. An animal welfare worker from ArcoNatura discovered the lovable teenager and convinced his owner to surrender Dobby to the animal shelter. Very quickly, the witty and playful heartbreaker found a family and moved into a cozy home in Linares. But after a few months of great happiness for Dobby, his owner lost their job and was forced to take a new position abroad. Since the woman works full-time and the children are at school, Dobby was initially left alone at home. His owners knew that this was not a long-term solution, and they found a day care facility for their four-legged friend. However, Dobby did not feel comfortable there and became increasingly sad. Reluctantly, his owners have now decided that their lively and tender ball junkie deserves better – and so Dobby now waits for a new chance to find a forever family. Dobby is a balanced and very friendly male dog who knows and appreciates life in the house. Besides his great love for balls and extended walks with his favorite people, who can be of any size, shape, and color (whether it's a ball or a person), Dobby is also always on the lookout for four-legged friends with whom he can be Dobby. At 60cm, Dobby is not a small dog, but he is still suitable for (steady) beginner dog owners. The cheerful gentleman forgives small training mistakes without a problem (or uses them shamelessly, especially when it comes to cookies), he is content with the smallest spot on the couch, and if necessary, he will sit on a family member's lap, he begs only a little (but more convincingly), and he is simply charming through and through. If you are looking for a sporty, cheerful, and uncomplicated everyday companion, you should not click on "Close," but contact our matchmakers immediately!. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Dobby &#8211

What life with Dobby &#8211 looks like

Dobby &#8211 is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dobby &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dobby &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dobby &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dobby &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dobby &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dobby &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dobby &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
