Dolly

Maltese · Female · Senior · 11 years

Dolly is a sweet, gentle 11-year-old Maltese who has really started to come out of her shell. She loves snuggling up on the sofa, keeping her human’s company and enjoying her daily walks, where she happily sniffs and explores the world around her. Dolly is relaxed around new people and has been lovely with a young child. She enjoys a peaceful home where she can feel safe and settle at her own pace. Dolly is still working on her housetraining and will need a little patience and consistency. Once settled, she could be left for 2–4 hours and would make a lovely companion for a lucky home. With plenty of enthusiasm for life and a curious nature, she’s ready to find a special home where she can enjoy all the little adventures. She loves her walks and enjoys getting out and about to explore the world around her. Whether she’s discovering new sights and smells or simply enjoying time with her favourite people, she’s a little lady who still has plenty to enjoy. This sweet girl could live with primary school-aged children and older, as well as small furry pets or dogs, making her a lovely addition to a suitable family home. As with any dog, we would want to ensure that any introductions are carefully managed. She does have some ongoing medical considerations, which we would be very happy to discuss openly with any potential adopters. We want to make sure she finds the right home, with people who understand her needs and can give her the care and support she deserves. If you’re looking for a loving companion to snuggle on the sofa with, we’d love to hear from you. She may be 11, but she still has so much to offer and deserves a comfortable, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years to the fullest.

About Dolly

What life with Dolly looks like

Dolly is a small senior maltese dog waiting at Dogs Trust Newbury in Newbury.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dolly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dolly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Newbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dolly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dolly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Newbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Dolly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dolly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Newbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dolly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
