Domino

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Domino came into the sanctuary almost ready to give birth, a few days later she had 5 kittens and was such a loving and gentle mummy. All her kittens are now old enough to be rehomed and therefore Domino is looking for a special home of her own. Domino is approximately 2 years old and is a very gentle and shy little sole. She likes to be stroked and spoke to quietly and would therefore need a home which was quiet and relaxed, where she can potter about and have the sole attention of her owner and enjoy strokes. Domino had a virus called Calicivirus whilst she was with us, which she has been treated for and has been retested recently. She is now completely free of this virus and healthy. She needs lots of tlc and love to make her confidence shine through. Domino would be an ideal cat for a single person or a couple whom she could bond with and feel relaxed in their prescence. A family home would be considered if the children were older and calmer. She would probably prefer to be an only cat. When she has grown used to her environment she would like to go outside, so a home with a garden she can relax in would be ideal or at least some safe green space nearby, away from busy or main roads, railway lines, water/canals or any other hazards. Domino is now ready to be rehomed, she has been neutered, vaccinated, flead, wormed, microchipped and vet checked. If Domino sounds like her personality would suit your household please apply using the application form below. Adoption fee of £100 applies

About Domino

What life with Domino looks like

Domino is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Heatons Cat Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Domino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Domino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Heatons Cat Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Domino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Domino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Heatons Cat Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Domino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Domino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Heatons Cat Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Domino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
