Dora

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Dora is a sweet girl who enjoys playing with her toys, having a cuddle and settling down in the evening with a long-lasting snack. She is a foody girl who engages well with her training and is always eager to please! This has really helped her with her worry around other dogs, and she has made so much improvement since coming into our care. To begin with, Dora will need access to quiet walks in low dog-populated areas, but with the help of our training and behaviour team, we hope that Dora can build her confidence in this area. Dora happily jumps into a car and although she can whine a little to begin with, she relaxes quickly. She really is a fantastic little lady and she can't wait to meet her forever family that she can snuggle up with. Say hello to Dora, a lovely 3-year-old Staffie cross! She is a super smart girl who loves meeting new people, learning new things, and going on long sniffing adventures! Dora is able to live with children aged 12+ who are confident around bouncy, playful dogs and she would need to be the only pet in the home. As Dora loves her human friends so much, she is hoping to find a home where someone is around most of the time to begin with and who can build up her leaving hours slowly. A rural home, ideally with a garden, would be perfect for Dora - somewhere quiet where she can explore to her hearts content. As much as she needs her physical exercise, it’s equally important that Dora has plenty of mental stimulation, too. Dora’s perfect family would be calm, patient and keen to keep up with her training.

About Dora

What life with Dora looks like

Dora is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
