Dories

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Spanish Water Dog born 12/2018, approx. 49cm high Compatible with: male dogs, female dogs, cats, and children Dories is a charming Spanish Water Dog who immediately captures hearts with her loving and calm nature. She adores humans above all else, relishes every bit of attention, and could cuddle for hours. Her gentle eyes tell a story of hope, trust, and the wish to finally find a home. The friendly female dog is uncomplicated to handle, cuddly, and delights in every form of closeness. She also loves children and greets them just as warmly as the adults. She gets along well with other dogs and cats are no problem for Dories. Unfortunately, Dories had to endure something terrible in her past. The effects of that time were not only emotional but also physically visible. Therefore, she spent many months with our friends at the Spanish animal shelter while she recovered from her injuries. But Dories fought – and won. Her wounds are long healed, and she has kept her zest for life. Despite everything, this wonderful female dog still waits for the people who will show her how beautiful a home can be. People who see her not because of her past but because of the loving dog she is today. Dories has so much love to give and would wish for nothing more than to finally find a home and be part of a family. Who will give this special female dog the chance at a new chapter full of security, love, and happy years together? Dories is, of course, microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, registered, and vet-checked. She was also tested for Mediterranean diseases and comes with an EU vaccination certificate for her new home. All the pictures we have of Dories we have compiled into a slideshow for you above. Take your time and look through the pictures, or click to see the next one. Contact:

Spanischer Wasserhund geb. Leider musste Dories in ihrer Vergangenheit Schlimmes erleben. About Dories

What life with Dories looks like

Dories is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. in Essingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dories, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dories?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dories on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dories if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dories already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dories isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dories and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
