Dylan

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel · Male · Senior · 9 years

Dylan is a 9-month-old Blenheim Cavalier who came into rescue under sad circumstances. He is a loving, energetic young dog who has settled well into foster care and is now ready to find a home that can give him the time, training, and attention he needs. He is very much still a puppy in both age and behaviour. Dylan is playful, busy, affectionate, and a little mischievous at times. He loves toys, balls, games, and will happily ask to play as often as he can. He needs a home that genuinely wants the fun, commitment, and energy that comes with a young dog. He can only be left for short periods. Dylan has settled in well with the resident dogs in his foster home, although he was frightened of them at first. He can be timid when meeting new dogs and may take time to feel confident. He wants to make friends, but tends to approach more confidently once the other dog is calm, sitting, or lying down. He walks well on the lead but will need continued training and confidence-building. Puppy training classes would be highly beneficial for Dylan, helping him develop confidence, social skills, focus, and good manners in a structured and positive way. Dylan is clean in the house and mostly well-behaved, but he is still young and can be mouthy and mischievous. For this reason, he is best suited to a home with older children who understand young dogs and can interact with him appropriately. He is extremely affectionate and wants to be close to his people. Dylan loves sitting on your lap, sleeping near you, and being involved in daily life. He can be left for short periods, but he would prefer a home where someone is around most of the time. Dylan will be a wonderful companion for the right home – one with the time, patience, energy, and commitment to help him grow into a confident and well-rounded adult dog. ✅ Health conditions: No known health conditions at present. Dylan has had surgery in the rescue for an undescended testicle and has recovered well. He is up to date with vaccinations and parasite preventatives. 💊 On medication? No 🐾 Behaviour traits: Loving, playful, energetic, affectionate, shy with new dogs initially, mischievous and still very puppy-like 🎾 Activity level: High – Dylan is a young, active dog who needs play, interaction, training, and enrichment 📚 Training required: Continued lead training, confidence building, puppy manners, mouthing management, and positive socialisation. Puppy training classes would be strongly recommended. 🏡 Type of home required: Active, patient home with someone around most of the time. Dylan needs adopters who understand the demands of a young dog and are committed to ongoing training, socialisation, and confidence building. 📌 Important Notes ✔️ Dylan is still a puppy and will need time, training, patience, and consistency. ✔️ He can be shy when meeting new dogs and will need gentle introductions. ✔️ Older children only due to his age, energy, and current mouthing stage. ✔️ He is not suitable for a home where he will be left for long periods. ✔️ Puppy training classes would be highly beneficial. ✔️ Home check and meet & greet required within 7–10 days of applying. ✔️ Please read our adoption procedure before applying:

About Dylan

What life with Dylan looks like

Dylan is a senior cavalier king charles spaniel dog waiting at Bliss Cavalier Rescue in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dylan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dylan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bliss Cavalier Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dylan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dylan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bliss Cavalier Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dylan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dylan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bliss Cavalier Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dylan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
