Earl

Mixed Breed Cat Β· Male Β· Young Β· 1 year

Personality:Earl came into our care as a stray and took a little time to settle in the cattery environment but he is getting braver each day. After spending time watching us from afar he is now starting to initiate contact with his trusted handlers. Earl will need his new owners to be patient with him and for Earl to take the lead on any handling or interactions he feels comfortable with. Behaviour:Initially Earl would watch us from inside a carrier but over time he has felt more comfortable around us and spends a lot of his time relaxing in his open bed or on top of a carrier. He can be quite chatty at times, especially when you need reminding to feed him! He is a very clever boy who enjoys a variety of different enrichment to keep his brain ticking. 3 months post adoption behaviour support will be provided. Housing:Earl hasn’t been brave enough to explore the cattery floor yet and does get overwhelmed in new environments. He would benefit from his own unused room to initially settle in before exploring the rest of the property, and eventually a garden. He cannot be homed in Stubbington, PO14 area. Children/pets:Earl needs to be an only pet in an adult only home. Vet history:Earl is neutered, microchipped, flea, wormed and fully vaccinated. Earl has no known medical conditions. 4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption. Adoption fee:The adoption fee is Β£100. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

About Earl

What life with Earl looks like

Earl is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Earl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Earl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Earl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Earl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Earl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Earl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Earl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
