Adopt Ebba

German Shepherd · Female · Adult · 6 years

Breed: Caucasian Owtscharka x German Shepherd Color: brown-white Age: August 11, 2020 Gender: female neutered: yes Reason for surrender: time shortage and overburdening Personality: Ebba is ready for her new home Ebba, born on August 11, 2020, is a mixed-breed female dog from Romania with Caucasian Owtscharka and German Shepherd heritage. At around six months old, she arrived in Switzerland and has lived in Zürich since then. In October 2025, she was surrendered to a foster home in Seeland due to time shortage and overburdening. She lives in a structured multi-dog household with a dog trainer and receives professional care and further socialization. Since then, she has made remarkable progress. Ebba adapts very well to her human and walks calmly on a loose leash. She knows recall and a clear break signal and shows attentiveness and a willingness to learn. Joint training and playful mental stimulation clearly bring her joy. She is a cuddly and people-oriented female dog who enjoys closeness. At the same time, she needs clear rules, reliable leadership, and a calm, confident person who takes responsibility. As a herding dog-mix, Ebba needs a clear, tight framework and a competent primary caregiver she can trust. Only then can she relax and take on responsibility. A loving home with experienced dog people who understand independent and territorial dogs is sought. A home outside of the city is a prerequisite. For serious interest, we look forward to your contact. You can meet Ebba at any time. Of course, we also support you in training. Rasse: Kaukasischer Owtscharka x Schäferhund Farbe: braun-Weiss Alter: 11. About Ebba

What life with Ebba looks like

Ebba is a medium-sized adult german shepherd dog waiting at Berner Tierzentrum in Switzerland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ebba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ebba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Berner Tierzentrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ebba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ebba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Berner Tierzentrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ebba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ebba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Berner Tierzentrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ebba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
