Adopt El

Labrador Retriever · Male · Adult · 5 years

We present to you this beautiful little dog named MARQUÉS. He is a mixed breed, an absolutely stunning mix of water dog and Labrador. He is of medium to large size (26 kg) and was born on March 10, 2021. For the first eight months of his life, MARQUÉS lived in a home, interacted with other dogs, and learned family living habits before coming to our animal shelter. He was adopted and then returned to the animal shelter. His life has been a constant of ups and downs, and he has not known stability. He needs time and patience to adapt to his new home. MARQUÉS is an active and energetic dog who needs physical and mental activity to stay balanced. He is noble, affectionate, and intelligent, learning quickly and knowing some basic commands like sit. He generally gets along well with other dogs, but occasionally, especially with males, he can be assertive. He can be possessive with certain objects, particularly with El's food bowl. MARQUÉS is in perfect health, testing negative for Anaplasma, Ehrlichia, Heartworm, and Leishmaniasis. He now has a microchip, a veterinary record, is up-to-date on his vaccinations, has been treated for internal and external parasites, and has been neutered. MARQUÉS is more than ready to start a new life, but only with people who truly and forever love him, who value the loyalty and love of a dog, and see him as a family member.

About El

What life with El looks like

El is a medium-sized adult labrador retriever dog waiting at El Refugio Escuela Marlene in Seville.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting El, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about El?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. El Refugio Escuela Marlene handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw El on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt El if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — El Refugio Escuela Marlene will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is El already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if El isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with El Refugio Escuela Marlene early rather than rehoming privately; they know El and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
