Adopt Fragolina

Labrador Retriever · Female · Young · 1 year

Update 05-2025 There are some updates from our sweet Fragolina. Let's let the foster home tell it: Fragolina has been with us for 4 months now and has made good progress. In the first days she only stayed on the couch and hid her head (I can't see you, so you can't see me), but now she can't get enough of people she knows and trusts. With people she doesn't know, she is still very cautious and men have to really work hard to earn her trust. Due to uncertainty, she barks at people and everything new. However, Fragolina calms down quickly. A while ago we had weekend visitors and Fragolina didn't know our friends. She did bark at first, but then relaxed and lay down on the couch after a short time. In the mornings, our friends were no longer barked at. She is becoming more confident, no longer follows me all the time, and remains relaxed when I am not in the room. Every morning Fragolina greets you in a very good mood. Fragolina gets along very well with our dogs and is very careful with our two seniors Lupo (14) and Stella (14/ almost blind). Fragolina enjoys playing with Junas, Mia and Peter. Whether inside or outside. Also with Peter (2 kg) she is very careful. She can be left alone for hours. At first the garden was suspicious to Fragolina, especially now that the neighbors and children are in their gardens, the noise level is louder and the lawnmowers are running, but now she loves running through the garden with our dogs or darting around. She goes into the garden on her own and likes to stay there. Smelling the flowers. Watching bees and bumblebees. Chasing butterflies or birds. Or just relaxing in the garden. Fragolina is house-trained and lets you know when she needs to go out.

About Fragolina

What life with Fragolina looks like

Fragolina is a medium-sized young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fragolina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fragolina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fragolina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fragolina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fragolina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fragolina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fragolina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
