Elenor

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process The charming female dog was already able to travel from a public shelter in Romania and move into a home as a puppy in December 2024. Unfortunately, the family's circumstances have changed so that they can no longer provide for Elenor. Elenor is a young, still developing female dog with insecurities as well as a pronounced protective and territorial behavior. She forms a very close bond with her primary caregiver and tends to want to protect her. Consistent and sensitive work should be done on these topics with her. At home, Elenor is very cuddly and people-oriented. She is exceptionally eager to learn and already knows several tricks that she performs with enthusiasm. Additionally, she is still in the midst of puberty and shows herself to be playful and lively. She is already accustomed to being alone and can manage several hours, although it still doesn't always come easily for her to fully calm down. For Elenor, we wish for a quiet, low-stress home, ideally with a securely fenced garden. Other animals should not live in the household, as she is still unsure when it comes to handling fellow animals. A confident, very calm single dog would only be possible with appropriate guidance. Currently, Elenor lives with two teenagers. As an additional change for her would be a major challenge, we wish for her a home without children. Elenor is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings an EU pet passport and can be shipped after a positive our shelter. Thank you, Annalena! You gave Elenor her name. Vielen Dank an Annalena! Du hast Elenor ihren Namen geschenkt. About Elenor

What life with Elenor looks like

Elenor is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elenor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elenor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elenor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elenor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elenor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elenor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elenor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
