adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Eleonore can stay! Her story: Our incredibly sweet scruffy Eleonore had a tough life, with many hardships. The sad climax was when she landed in the public shelter's killing station. At just 3 years old, her fate hung in the balance. Thankfully, Eleonore was eventually able to travel – but unfortunately, she chases the cats in the household, so her journey continues and she searches for a new home. The friendly Eleonore, despite her experiences, is initially a bit reserved, almost even a little shy, but she is certainly not hard to win over. She likes being stroked, enjoys treats, and she's already taking brave steps on the leash. With a little time, patience, and especially with the right people by her side, she will surely become more confident each day without losing her gentle and loving nature. With a shoulder height of about 48 cm and a weight of around 15 kg, Eleonore will definitely fit into any dog bed and is perfect for always and everywhere accompanying her two-legged family. Her tousled black fur, streaked with white strands, her white paw tips, and especially her warm button eyes make her such a captivating sight. What breeds are in her, remains a mystery – typical for a true mixed-breed female dog. Her spayed uterus does not affect her quality of life, but it unfortunately means that an entry into Switzerland is not possible. For Eleonore, we wish for people who will give her time to settle in and gently get to know her. We are looking for people where she can be carefree and who will give her the daily opportunity to frolic over meadows, fields, and logs and stones. Additionally, they should teach her the unknowns of being a house dog while she discovers the everyday world at her own pace. She would also surely enjoy a visit to a good dog training class, where she can interact with her fellow animals, because she gets along famously with them. Whether she also likes cats, we currently do not know. Who would like to win Eleonore's heart and find a loyal treasure for life? She would also be happy to move into a foster home to leave her barren kennel behind. Many thanks, Isolde K., for taking on her namesship! As of: 14.04. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Eleonore darf bleiben! Stand: 14.04.2025

About Eleonore

What life with Eleonore looks like

Eleonore is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eleonore, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eleonore?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eleonore on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eleonore if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eleonore already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eleonore isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eleonore and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
