Ella

Belgian Malinois · Female · Puppy · 7 months

Ella is a cuddly and bouncy girl who adore cuddle time with her favourite people. She is a super intelligent girl who will thrive with a family that can continue her training. Ella is a big foodie but also loves to play with her teddies! She is very good at settling down after a good play session and will take herself off to her bed for a nap. Ella loves using her brain and enjoys enrichment such as Kongs and puzzle feeders. But most of all Ella loves her people and would love to spend days snoozing in your lap and cuddling up on the sofa! Ella is looking for a home actively involved in training. She has begun learning the basics but will need committed adopters who can continue this. Ella also needs a home that can continue her dog socialisation. She can struggle with being left so will need her leaving hours built up slowly once she has settled into her new home. Ella can live with older secondary school children who have experience with larger breeds and are confident around boisterous and bouncy dogs. Due to Ella being worried by new people and dogs, she needs a home with a private garden so she can have off lead time to play and relax. She can be worried when first meeting new people so will need minimal visitors to the home until she has settled in and feels more comfortable and confident meeting new friends. Ella is worried by high traffic and therefore needs to live in a quieter rural area away from main roads and traffic.

About Ella

What life with Ella looks like

Ella is a large puppy/kitten belgian malinois dog waiting at Dogs Trust Harefield in Harefield.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Harefield handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Harefield will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Harefield early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
