Ella

Female · Senior · 15 years

Ella – small female dog with great charm seeks her Forever Home The charming Ella has been living with us at our shelter since the end of May 2026. She had to leave her previous home due to health issues of her former owners and now waits for people who would like to give her a new chapter full of love and security. Ella is a friendly Pekinese mix who really greets everyone warmly. Whether man, woman, or child – she meets everyone openly and with openness. With her lovable nature, she has quickly won the hearts of our caregivers. Particularly impressive: Since her move in, Ella has been following our staff members trustingly and is strongly oriented towards her trusted people. She enjoys the company of people and likes to be right in the middle of things rather than just being around. She also generally gets along well with other dogs. Just with food, one should be a bit attentive, as she shows a certain food jealousy towards fellow animals. With the right management, this can be handled well. About Ella's previous husbandry, we know very little. The more beautiful it is to see how uncomplicated and friendly she presents herself to us. Also typical for a Pekinese, Ella has something to say and comments on the events around her in her own special way. Those who are looking for a quiet dog will not find Ella suitable – but those who appreciate the charming "chattiness" of this breed will love Ella. Ella is a nice, adorable small female dog who brings joy to everyday life with her cheerful nature. Now she just needs a home where she can be accepted and loved. Her teeth were treated by us, and her wrinkles on the forehead were also removed. Ella has a thyroid overfunction for which she now takes medication.

About Ella

What life with Ella looks like

Ella is a large senior dog waiting at Tierheim Mönchengladbach in Mönchengladbach.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Mönchengladbach handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Mönchengladbach will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Mönchengladbach early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
