Elsie

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 9 months

I’m a 9-month-old Staffy cross, and I’m looking for my forever home. Sadly, I’ve been waiting at JG for a few months now, hoping to find just the right people to call my own. Everyone here thinks I’m a wonderful girl, and they know my perfect family is out there—they just haven’t found me yet. Let me tell you a bit about me… I’m a bright, affectionate, and incredibly clever girl who loves to learn. I already know lots of tricks and really enjoy using my brain, so I’m looking for an experienced home that will continue my training and help me reach my full potential. I thrive when I have clear guidance, consistency, and plenty to keep both my mind and body busy. I’d love an active home where I can enjoy plenty of adventures, alongside fun training activities such as agility, scent work, or anything else that gives me a job to do. Spending time with my people is one of my favourite things, and I’m looking for a family who have the time and commitment to invest in me. I’m used to being the only dog in the home, but I may have the potential to live with another calm, well-balanced dog who can help me continue learning good manners and enjoy the occasional play. Any introductions would need to take place at the centre and be successful before this could be considered. Once I’ve settled into my new home and built a bond with my family, I should be able to cope with being left for a couple of hours. Like any young dog, I’ll just need time, patience, and a gradual routine to help me adjust. Because I’m still continuing my training, I’m looking for adopters who are relatively local to the centre and can commit to attending meet-and-greets during the week. Finding the right match is really important, so having the time and flexibility to get to know me before I go home will help set us all up for success. Most of all, I’m a fun-loving, intelligent girl with so much potential. I’m looking for an experienced family who will continue to guide me and give me all the love I deserve.

About Elsie

What life with Elsie looks like

Elsie is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Lincoln.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elsie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elsie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jerry Green Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elsie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elsie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jerry Green Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elsie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elsie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jerry Green Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elsie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
