adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Elvis has found a home! His story: Zalau, Romania. The little Elvis wants to go on a big adventure! Ready to embark on this exciting journey, the lively Mini-male dog is definitely up for it. Besides a healthy portion of joy and curiosity, he has plenty of playful whims and so much love in his luggage that his imaginary suitcase is practically overflowing. On our side, nothing stands in the way of travel arrangements. In fact, we would be delighted to place him in the next transport. But for that, we need a destination and are therefore urgently seeking loving people who would be willing to give him a temporary foster home or perhaps even a forever home. Elvis, about 6.5 months old, was found alone wandering near a village with his sister Paulina. The two puppy siblings begged hungrily for food but were mostly rudely driven away. We rescued the sweet siblings and brought them to our private shelter, where Elvis quickly became popular through his friendly and affectionate nature. Visually, the mixed breed Elvis immediately catches the eye, not least thanks to his beautiful black fur and his perfectly matching brown legs. Currently, he weighs around 18 kg and suggests that he will likely be of medium size. Unfortunately, we have no information about his mother. Our local helpers suspect, however, that the German Shepherd could be a significant part of his ancestry. German Shepherds are generally known for their strong people orientation, intelligence, and learnability. They are also energetic contemporaries whose paws and noses are eager to be engaged in a variety of activities. Additionally, a more or less pronounced instinct to protect his beloved family could be present. For our open and accommodating Elvis, a visit to a qualified dog training class would certainly be a enrichment. There, he could learn the still unknown paw and nose ABC through playful training and meet fellow animals of various sizes. Additionally, in a few months, his favorite person could be given extremely helpful tips when the sometimes somewhat challenging puberty phase begins for Elvis. Should someone draw the lucky ticket for our wonderful Elvis, he would bring an EU pet passport with him and would be microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. Age-wise, castration is not yet possible. He has not yet met any cats. Who has the time, understanding, and most importantly, love to accompany our rising star Elvis through his growing years? Many thanks, Daniela and Karsten! You have done me a great favor with your namings. Some symptoms here are age-related.

About Elvis

What life with Elvis looks like

Elvis is a very small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elvis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elvis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elvis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elvis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elvis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elvis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elvis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
