Emi

Female Β· Young Β· 2 years

Emi is a loving Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross looking for a home that will help her feel safe, secure and understood. As a deaf dog, Emi has been learning hand signals to support her training and communication, new owners will need to continue this to help her navigate the world around her. Emi has been friendly with a variety of dogs she has met. She enjoys their company and, with a dog whose play style matches her own, she can show off her fun and playful side. She also enjoys watching other dogs walk by her whilst she’s out exploring. She could live with a well-matched dog that could read Emi well. As Emi is deaf, she can startle easily if something surprises her, particularly when she is resting or unaware of someone approaching. Helping Emi feel secure in her surroundings will be an important part of settling her into her new home. Emi enjoys her walks and will need plenty of opportunities for both physical and mental exercise. Emi has boundless enthusiasm and really wants to please her favourite people. She enjoys a game of tug and playing with toys. Emi enjoys her training and sometimes is so excited she will give you all the commands she knows in one go. She has shown some worry around unfamiliar people, particularly men. As a deaf dog, being surprised by someone can understandably feel unsettling for her. She will benefit from a calm, predictable home where she can settle in at her own pace, with visitors kept to a minimum while she adjusts. Once she has been introduced to people, she makes friends quickly and is affectionate with her known people. Emi will thrive in a home with a family willing to help her navigate the world in a way that works for her. Emi will be a rewarding dog to train and see grow within a home, with new owners willing to take a chance on Emi. About Emi

What life with Emi looks like

Emi is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Emi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
