English Setter „Casella“

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Casella is an approximately 10-year-old English Setter female dog who, despite likely not having had an easy life, has managed to retain her zest for life. Her bones are no longer the most agile, but she still enjoys going for walks and can easily run long distances. Outside, she is pleasant to handle and shows good orientation towards humans. Casella is very likely deaf or severely hard of hearing. Nevertheless, she can run freely on her foster home’s property, as she reliably maintains contact. She is setter-type with a slightly larger radius, but always within sight and very responsive to hand signals. In handling, she is a truly wonderful female dog: very people-oriented, cuddly, and clingy. She loves her trusted people and enjoys every form of attention. In the dog group, she shows compatibility but is happy to take on the role of the “strict grandma.” A home as a single princess or with a calm, sovereign male dog would suit her very well. She can now stay alone after getting used to it. Although she can rest and sleep well after a walk and a full stomach, we would like a home where she does not have to be alone regularly and where she can spend her golden years with much closeness and affection. Casella can travel in the car without any problems, is open to people, and her absolute favorite pastime is cuddling. We would like a loving home for Casella with people who have experience with Setters or hunting dogs and who understand her needs and are willing to give her the time and attention she deserves. For inquiries, please contact Sabrina Hönig (Contact Person).

DE·Show original

About English Setter „Casella“

What life with English Setter „Casella“ looks like

English Setter „Casella“ is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Jagdhunde in Not e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting English Setter „Casella“, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about English Setter „Casella“?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jagdhunde in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw English Setter „Casella“ on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt English Setter „Casella“ if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jagdhunde in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is English Setter „Casella“ already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if English Setter „Casella“ isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jagdhunde in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know English Setter „Casella“ and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
