Adopt Enid

European Shorthair · Female

Hello! My name is Enid and I am a cuddly, red-white cat, 7.5 years old. I lived my whole life with my people and was happy and content. But then a little human moved in who needed a lot of attention and really stressed me out. Hui! That didn't work at all, and I showed my people exactly that in a very cat-typical way. They wanted to keep the baby – of course – and so I packed my bags and moved to the animal shelter. And that's not how I imagined it at all, and I'm not really happy here either. That's why I like to hide and don't like to be bothered – better safe than sorry. Since I used to be a loving cat and know other fellow animals, my people think that with a friendly, well-socialized companion of my age, I will quickly become "my old self" again. And you know what – I think so too. I miss a real home very much. Children should not live there – and if they do, only big ones who don't cry constantly. That would be my greatest happiness. This cat needs outdoor access.

Huhu!

About Enid

What life with Enid looks like

Enid is a large adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel in Kiel.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Enid, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Enid?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Enid on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Enid if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Enid already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Enid isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Enid and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
