Adopt Ewe

Podenco · Male · Young · 1 year

Ewe has shown compatibility with cats in Melampo. Ewe and his three siblings were thrown over the fence of Melampo when they were 7 months old. We suspect this to be an unplanned litter. As they were older, they likely grew up together with their mother. The dogs in Melampo grow up in safety and with loving affection. Ewe tested positive for leishmaniasis and is being treated accordingly. The general blood tests were normal. In treatment with Zyloric and being fed with purin-free food. The puppies are very active, showing great vitality and full of energy. They are playful and curious for their age. They are very friendly, open, and trusting towards helpers. The puppies have all necessary vaccinations and are now ready for their own home. They are still in growth and have not been spayed/neutered, which must be done by the new owners at the appropriate time. We do not know if the puppies lived in a household during their first seven months. Melampo is their familiar environment, and the new owners must give them enough time to adapt to their new routine. Please inform yourself about the Podenco and Bracke breeds beforehand to assess whether the dog truly fits into your own life. These are active dogs that require adequate stimulation and loving upbringing. We hope that the young dogs will soon find the right people and be able to discover life outside the animal shelter!. Gets along with other cats.

About Ewe

What life with Ewe looks like

Ewe is a young adult podenco dog waiting at Melampo in Melampo.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ewe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ewe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Melampo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ewe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ewe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Melampo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ewe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ewe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Melampo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ewe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
