Adopt Faru

Male

Breed: Herdenschutzhund Location: 66352 Großrosseln When will our dear Faru finally be discovered by his desired family? Faru currently lives in a pension in Großrosseln. His foster home had to be left due to an injury to the foster parent. Faru is a large black cuddly bear and always shows a good mood in his pension. He loves to snuggle and enjoys the company of his humans. At the same time, Faru is a very independent character who can keep himself occupied and find tasks. He is an active young dog who loves to play and run around. Faru wants to be kept busy and stimulated, and a task like watching a farm or an area would be great for him. Also, attending dog training classes to learn the basics would be advisable. Faru is house-trained and enjoys car rides. He can be left alone for 3-4 hours. Faru is food-aggressive, but this is not a problem with individual feeding and a feeding routine. Faru gets along well with other dogs. He likes to play and run with them. However, due to his food-aggressiveness, no dogs or children should be present in his new home. He is not compatible with cats. Faru is a sweet charmer and despite his very loving nature, he needs clear boundaries to orient himself. Otherwise, he will start to assert his own will. Therefore, Faru seeks dog-experienced people who can give him the boundaries and structure appropriate to his nature. Then, he will be a great animal companion. For more information, contact Vermittlungshilfe für TSV Hundeleben Saar e.V. This animal is not suitable for homes with children.

About Faru

What life with Faru looks like

Faru is a small adult dog waiting at Tierleben Deutschland e.V. in Landau in der Pfalz.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Faru, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Faru?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierleben Deutschland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Faru on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Faru if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierleben Deutschland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Faru already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Faru isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierleben Deutschland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Faru and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
