FERDINAND

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Estimated birth date: September 2024 Brief info: friendly, people-oriented, attentive, cuddly, energetic, curious, playful The estimated September 2024-born FERDINAND was wandering around a company premises daily in September 2025. An employee began feeding the young, hungry male dog, who was in poor physical condition and had some scratches. After a few days, the man was able to catch the dog and took him home. He had the plan to find a home for FERDINAND. However, since the athletic FERDINAND could climb over fences, he escaped from the garden but returned to the company after one week. Thereafter, the man decided to take FERDINAND to the animal shelter. There, the handsome dogman is friendly, attentive, and people-oriented. He is very happy when he is taken out of the kennel for a small walk and enjoys the attention. Of course, he still needs to be taught all the important things of a dog's daily life, but with the right support, he will surely learn everything quickly. With the young female puppy Baby, the puppy also gets along well and plays very much (and wild) with her on the leash. So far, he has not been tested with other dogs, but this will be done soon. For the charming FERDINAND, we are looking for active people with dog experience who are willing to embark on the adventure of "puppy" – with everything that comes with it: playing, snuggling, toiling, but of course also a consistent and loving upbringing. The lively lad would also be thrilled to be a suitable companion for dog sports/mental stimulation. FERDINAND will move to a new home neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and with an EU pet passport. Would you like to offer this lovely young pup an appropriate and "colorful" life? Then we look forward to your message!. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About FERDINAND

What life with FERDINAND looks like

FERDINAND is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting FERDINAND, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about FERDINAND?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw FERDINAND on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt FERDINAND if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is FERDINAND already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if FERDINAND isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know FERDINAND and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
