Ferdl

European Shorthair · Male · Kitten

Ferdl is a curious and playful young cat. He and his four siblings came to the shelter from a hoarder's home. Their start in life was not the best, but here they were able to settle down, receive loving care and medical attention. Ferdl is definitely the most trusting of his siblings and probably the most curious. While the others sometimes hesitate to try something new, Ferdl wants to know what's going on. He thoroughly examines new things and likes to explore his surroundings. Ferdl is also a playful young cat. Playing, running around and causing mischief with his siblings is part of his nature. He can't stand boredom. Ferdl is friendly and open to people and enjoys attention and interaction. He is looking for people who will enjoy his curious and playful nature as much as he enjoys discovering his new world. After everything he has been through, all he needs now is a loving home that he can explore with curiosity and finally call his own. Maybe it's waiting for him with you?

❤️🐾 Dein Ferdl

About Ferdl

What life with Ferdl looks like

Ferdl is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg in Wolfsberg.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ferdl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ferdl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ferdl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ferdl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ferdl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ferdl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ferdl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
