Feria

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Feria is a delicate and really pretty Podenca who weighs just 10 kg. Those who meet Feria might initially think: so much dog can never fit in just ten kilos! But the white Podenca with her beautiful caramel-colored appliques not only looks great! She was born in January 2025. She is healthy, neutered and chipped - so ready to finally make a family story out of her previous adventure novel. Feria was found wandering alone through a village in the middle of the night and taken in by a volunteer helper. At that time she had injuries to her ears; these were treated and are completely healed. A chip was not present, apparently it had been removed. An ear tattoo suggests that Feria was originally used for hunting and later abandoned. No one can say for sure why. It is obvious that she did not seem suitable for a hunter - a sad fate that many Podencos face. Despite this history, Feria has not lost her friendly view of the world. She is open, curious, very people-oriented and extremely affectionate. She not only gratefully accepts caresses, but writes them in red letters at the top of her to-do list. She loves children, is sociable with other dogs, and even cats seem to be part of the acceptable community for her. Feria currently lives in a foster home in Arca Sevilla. There she experiences children and other dogs every day and shows herself as an unassuming roommate. She drives bravely in the car, is active and already runs nicely on the leash. Whether she has ever lived in a house before is not known and is rather unlikely. Her new family should therefore expect some surprises: A vacuum cleaner can initially seem like a technical monster, and a staircase might need to be introduced politely first. Podencos are considered sensitive, clever, active and closely attached to their people. Many have hunting instincts, which is why caution and patient training are required outside. However, Feria currently shows no discernible hunting instinct. This is a welcome observation, but no guarantee for every later situation. Feria learns quickly and eagerly; with friendly consistency, praise and perhaps the one or other convincing treat she should be enthusiastic about the task. People are sought who enjoy exercise, but also quiet cuddle hours. Feria needs loving guidance, time to arrive and a home where she is welcome as a family member. She brings the best conditions for this: a gentle nature, curiosity, brains, social compatibility and an amazingly large portion of affection in the handy ten-kilogram format. Whoever adopts Feria gets a young, active and eager to learn female dog who wants to discover the world with her people. Feria is waiting for her next nightly path not to lead through a village alone anymore, but directly home after a nice walk.

About Feria

What life with Feria looks like

Feria is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Feria, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Feria?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Feria on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Feria if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Feria already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Feria isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Feria and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
