Fiji

Husky · Male

Fiji was adopted as a nervous pup and sadly was returned to us as a stressed adult. After having lived in a home where he was kept unreasonable time shut in a crate (sadly without the rescue’s knowledge), he went back to life in kennels. Being always locked. He has shown a wonderful progress in kennels though, his handlers are very proud and fond of his personality, however he still does have some insecurities and there for needs a home with certain requirements. Fiji is currently kennelled in Preesall, UK He would thrive mostly in an adult only household, that is not crowded and doesn’t have visitors often. He can be an only dog but would also benefit from living with a friendly and confident canine friend. Fiji will need people who are willing to do training with him in order to help him gain his confidence in the new setting, people who are understanding and have time and will to just help him adjust. Fiji forms strong bonds with the people close to him, he is very loving and loyal and can be distressed if left home alone. He would make a great companion and shower you with affection if you can just give him the chance to settle at his own pace. He also has a fun and quirky side and loves zoomies (you can see how much on one of the pictures). To do right by the family and him, we would prefer that the family does several meets and greets prior to committing. Fiji is already neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and with a clean bill of health. Rescue back up is provided by us.

About Fiji

What life with Fiji looks like

Fiji is a medium-sized adult husky dog waiting at Strays Without Borders in Skopje.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇲🇰Adopting from North Macedonia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fiji, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fiji?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Strays Without Borders handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fiji on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fiji if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Strays Without Borders will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fiji already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fiji isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Strays Without Borders early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fiji and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
