Finn

Mixed Breed Β· Female

Finn is a young boy, no older than two, who is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. His story is one of the most heartwarming transformations we've seen yet. When he was found, he was just about surviving on the streets; very poorly, painfully thin and with a nasty open wound. He was so frightened at the vets that he hissed at anyone who came near him and was quickly assumed to be feral. But Finn had other ideas. On his third day in foster care he began hinting that he'd like some fuss, and by day four he was pushing his head into his fosterer's hand the moment she arrived with breakfast. And he hasn't looked back since! The Finn we know today Finn is now a loving, affectionate and contented cat. He still loves to push his head into your hand for fusses and will happily climb up for lap cuddles – his record so far is 90 minutes but he clearly would have stayed longer! Finn loves to play with balls, toy mice, knotties or the odd leaf, and he's happiest outdoors, where he'll sit and watch the birds for hours. He's growing into a big, handsome cat with long tufty fur on his paws, neck and tummy. He may have some Norwegian Forest Cat in him, in which case his coat could keep developing over the next few years and he may need regular grooming. Things to know β€’ His wound: Finn's wound is not yet fully healed, but it no longer needs any medical treatment – just time. His new owner should be comfortable with this and not worried by its appearance. β€’ New people: Finn is nervous when meeting new people and will need time to settle into his new home. β€’ Nips and paw bashes: He can occasionally give a little nip or a "paw bash", but he's easily redirected and will quickly turn his attention elsewhere when gently stopped. β€’ Vet visits: His only experiences of vets have been frightening, and on a return visit for his vaccinations he reverted to the hissy, scared cat he was when he first came in. Vet trips may continue to be stressful for him and will need extra care – his fosterers are happy to offer further advice here. The home Finn needs Finn needs to be the only cat in the home, and with a patient, experienced cat owner who understands he'll need time to trust new people. No young children please due to his occasional nipping and paw bashing. However an older, calm child who understands when to leave him be may be considered Finn will also need safe, outdoor access with plenty of space to sit, run, play and bird-watch. He would also benefit from someone confident handling a nervous cat at vet visits, and willing to take advice on making them less stressful as well as being happy to keep up with grooming if his coat grows long. Finn has come so far, and he has so much love to give. In the right home, he'll be a devoted, talkative and truly magnificent companion. If you think you could give Finn the home he deserves, please complete our adoption form. Please note with the increase in cost of veterinary treatment we now require adopters to take out relevant insurance - we will provide more information during the . About Finn

What life with Finn looks like

Finn is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at RSPCA Stourbridge and District in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Stourbridge and District handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA Stourbridge and District will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Finn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Stourbridge and District early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
