Flaga

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Flaga arrived at our animal shelter as a stray dog without care. Found on Flag Day, she was given that name. She is a young female dog, approximately 1.5 years old, weighing only 8 kg. Small, delicate, and incredibly adorable. When she arrived with us, she was a bit scared and withdrawn. She needed time to feel safe and trust her surroundings. Today, we know that beneath her shy exterior lies a wonderful, gentle, and very friendly dog. Flaga during her first contact with a new person needs a moment to ensure that nothing threatens her. Once she overcomes her uncertainty, she eagerly forms a closer relationship and shows her attachment. She is a calm, quiet female dog who loves human contact. She walks nicely on a leash. At first, she got a bit tangled up in it, suggesting that she may not have known walks or life by a human's side before. Today, she is doing much better and is gradually discovering the world. In terms of cats, she shows mainly curiosity, though we haven't yet had the opportunity to thoroughly check her relationship with them. She does not react conflictively to other dogs. Flaga is already spayed and ready for adoption. We are looking for a responsible, loving home that will give her a sense of security, patience, and the time needed to fully open up. We are certain that she will repay with great affection and will be a wonderful companion for many years.

PL·Show original

To młoda, około 1,5-roczna suczka o wadze zaledwie 8 kg. Drobna, delikatna i niezwykle urocza.

About Flaga

What life with Flaga looks like

Flaga is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Dłużyna Górna in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flaga, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flaga?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Dłużyna Górna handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flaga on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flaga if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Dłużyna Górna will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flaga already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flaga isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Dłużyna Górna early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flaga and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
