adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Flora has found her forever home! Her story: Our beloved Flora is searching for her forever home. Flora moved into her foster family in early August and has shown herself to be an absolute sweetheart: loving, open, and very curious. This female dog, about 14 months old (approximately 55 cm shoulder height), quickly adapted to life in an apartment, was house-trained from the first day, and sleeps through the night – a true dream dog! With her white and black spotted fur, Flora looks like a fluffy cloud on four legs. She is a sensitive and balanced female dog, seeking close contact with her people and loving to be cuddled and brushed. She follows her primary caregiver faithfully and is highly attuned to her – especially in new situations. Initially reserved with strangers, but always friendly and curious once she has gained trust. In brief: • Age: ca. 14 months • Size: ca. 55 cm • Temperament: gentle, calm, cuddly, eager to learn • Already house-trained & leash-friendly • Knows basic commands • Can be left alone problemlessly for 2–3 hours • Enjoys car rides • Doesn’t like cats, but gets along well with other animals (e.g., horses, chickens) • Experienced with dogs and friendly in contact – dog meet-ups should still be practiced • During walks, she neither bothers cars, bicycles, nor joggers. She loves treats, which makes training much easier. During visits, she shows a bit of skepticism but can be calmed with positive reinforcement and small snacks – practice should continue here as well. The fluffy girl loves to spend time outdoors. We would therefore like a quiet, rural home with a fenced yard where she can run freely. She needs people who can give her time, help her build trust, and continue to foster her with love and consistency. Flora was rescued from the killing shelter of the public our shelter in Zalau. Unfortunately, no further information about her background is known. She was able to leave the dark and fearful place behind and today shows herself as a friendly and happy young female dog. She is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, and has her EU pet passport. If you are smitten with the lovely Flora, then feel free to contact us to arrange a personal meet-and-greet! Heartfelt thanks to dear Monika V. for taking on the nametag sponsorship for Flora and giving her this charming name. As of: 13.09. Walks well on a leash.

About Flora

What life with Flora looks like

Flora is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
