Florence

Border Collie · Female · Senior · 10 years

Her ideal family will be willing to give Florence the time and space she needs to find her confidence, celebrating all those little steps along the way. Florence is a gentle 10 year old Border Collie looking for a quiet, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years at her own pace. Florence would benefit from living with a confident, friendly resident dog who can help show her that the world isn’t quite so scary. She’d be happiest in a calm, quieter household without too much hustle and bustle. Florence can be a little nervous when faced with new or unexpected things, such as the vacuum cleaner or surprise noises, so she’ll need a patient family who understands that confidence takes time. She’s currently learning lots of new things in foster and is showing us just how much she can blossom when given gentle encouragement and support. She has been house-trained in foster and is comfortable being left for around an hour, so she’s making great progress with all the important things of home life. She could live with upper-primary-school-aged children who are respectful, and who understand that sometimes she may need a little space.

About Florence

What life with Florence looks like

Florence is a senior border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Florence, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Florence?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Florence on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Florence if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Florence already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Florence isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Florence and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
