Ollie

Border Collie · Male · Senior · 15 years

As an older boy, Ollie does have some medical needs and is currently on a weight loss journey to help him feel more comfortable. It's important that this is continued in his forever home. Our team here at the centre would be happy to discuss Ollie's needs with his new family. Ollie is a handsome 15-year-old Border Collie who has returned to our care through no fault of his own. Whilst with us, Ollie has enjoyed the comforts of a foster home, where he settling nicely into a routine. As an older gentleman, Ollie is now looking for a peaceful retirement home where he can spend his days playing with his toys in the garden and enjoying relaxed afternoon snoozes in front of the TV. He’s housetrained and content being left for a couple of hours, though we recommend building this up gradually as he adjusts to his new environment. Ollie can become anxious when out on walks and much prefers quiet routes where he doesn’t have to worry about encountering other dogs. Because of this, he’ll need to be the only pet in his new home. Ollie can feel unsure around unfamiliar visitors, so having a safe, quiet space to retreat to will help him feel secure. He has lived with children before, and we feel he would be best suited to families with calm, understanding children aged 12+ who can appreciate his preference for a quiet life.

About Ollie

What life with Ollie looks like

Ollie is a medium-sized senior border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Medical needs requiring ongoing management, weight loss program, anxiety on walks

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ollie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ollie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ollie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ollie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ollie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ollie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ollie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
