Florence / Dorothy

Female · Adult · 7 years

Meet Dorothy & Florence – Two Resilient Girls Looking for a Fresh Start Dorothy and Florence are a bonded pair of bunnies who’ve been on an incredible journey to health and happiness. When they arrived at Nibbles, they were grossly overweight and struggling with the basics of bunny life. Dorothy, in particular, was so obese she couldn’t hop properly, groom herself, or even breathe comfortably when picked up. Thanks to careful care and a healthy diet, these lovely ladies have shed the excess weight and are now enjoying a much more active and fulfilling life. Dorothy does still snore when she sleeps, and she can have breathing difficulties when stressed, such as during vet visits, but overall, she’s made incredible progress. Personalities and Preferences Dorothy and Florence are confident, outgoing bunnies who absolutely love their newfound freedom compared to life in a small hutch. While they are still a bit unsure about human attention, they’re easily won over with treats and show potential to grow more trusting with one-on-one care. These girls can be a little messy in their pen—digging out their litter trays is a favorite pastime—but this has improved significantly since being spayed. They may squabble with each other occasionally, especially in springtime, but their bond remains strong and these moments never escalate into anything serious. What Dorothy & Florence Need Dorothy and Florence would thrive in an outdoor home with plenty of secure space to hop, dig, and explore. Their ideal home would provide patient and loving care to help them continue to build trust with humans. The girls have a newfound love for hay, which has greatly improved their gut mobility, and they’ll need a family committed to maintaining their healthy lifestyle. Could You Be Their Forever Family? Dorothy and Florence have come so far in their journey and are ready to blossom in a home where they’ll be cherished for the resilient, playful bunnies they are. If you’re looking for a bonded pair full of personality and potential, these two might just be the perfect addition to your family. About Florence / Dorothy

What life with Florence / Dorothy looks like

Florence / Dorothy is a small adult rabbit waiting at Nibbles Rodent and Rabbit Rescue in United Kingdom.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Florence / Dorothy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Florence / Dorothy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nibbles Rodent and Rabbit Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Florence / Dorothy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Florence / Dorothy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nibbles Rodent and Rabbit Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Florence / Dorothy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Florence / Dorothy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nibbles Rodent and Rabbit Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Florence / Dorothy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
