June

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Meet June – A Joyful, Larger-Than-Life Rabbit Who Deserves Her Happy Ending June is one of those rabbits who simply makes you smile. Lively, curious, wonderfully nosy and absolutely packed full of personality, she likes to know exactly what is happening around her — and preferably be right in the middle of it. Whether she’s racing around in a burst of zoomies, launching herself into a binky, enthusiastically rearranging her toys or coming over to investigate what her humans are doing, June approaches life with an infectious enthusiasm. It is difficult to reconcile the happy, confident rabbit we see today with the life she appears to have experienced before arriving in our care. June came to us as part of a welfare case in which a number of animals of different species were removed from a property. We know very little about her history, but her condition on arrival told us that life had not been kind to her. It was clear that she had been living in a very small and dirty environment, and she arrived covered in fleas. Thankfully, June didn't take long to realise that things had changed. She settled remarkably quickly, and before long her lively, friendly and inquisitive personality began to shine through. We don't know June's exact age, but believe she is approximately 4–5 years old. At around 3kg, she is a fairly substantial girl and we suspect she may be a Lionhead × French Lop. A Rabbit Who Knows Her Own Mind June absolutely loves interaction and will happily come over to say hello and find out what you're doing. She's bright, inquisitive and interested in everything around her. She also has opinions — quite a lot of them! If June has decided she is comfortable in bed, for example, she may not agree that cleaning it is currently a priority. Attempts to persuade her otherwise can be met with a disgruntled grunt and a little rabbit strop. There is no aggression behind it; June simply knows what she wants and isn't afraid to communicate her views. One thing she feels particularly strongly about is being picked up. While most rabbits prefer to keep their feet safely on the ground, June takes this preference to another level — she absolutely detests being lifted. Her future family will need to respect this and allow her to interact with them at floor level wherever possible. June is very much an all-four-paws-on-the-floor kind of rabbit. A Home Ready for Adventure June's enthusiasm for life does mean that she can be rather messy. She enjoys digging out her trays, investigating everything within reach and generally involving herself in whatever she can find. For this reason, we feel she would be best suited to an outdoor rabbit setup or a dedicated rabbit room rather than having unrestricted access to a human home. Whichever option her adopters choose, her environment will need to be thoroughly rabbit-proofed. June's curiosity is one of her most endearing qualities, but she is sufficiently determined that her humans will occasionally need to protect her from her own ideas! There is also one particularly important consideration when creating June's future home. Sadly, from her behaviour when she arrived, it was very apparent that June had previously been fed cardboard. As a result, she continues to recognise cardboard as a food source rather than simply something to shred or play with. June must therefore not be given access to cardboard or paper in any form. Her adopters will need to choose her enrichment, bedding and furnishings with this in mind. The good news is that June has settled beautifully onto a hay-based diet. She arrived with significant digestive problems, but her tummy has improved enormously since coming into our care. New foods will still need to be introduced carefully and gradually to help keep her digestive system settled. What June Needs June is looking for a forever home with a calm, laid-back male rabbit who won't be overwhelmed by her rather larger-than-life personality. There are some situations in which Jun

About June

What life with June looks like

June is a small adult mixed breed rabbit waiting at Nibbles Rodent and Rabbit Rescue in United Kingdom.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting June, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about June?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nibbles Rodent and Rabbit Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw June on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt June if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nibbles Rodent and Rabbit Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is June already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if June isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nibbles Rodent and Rabbit Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know June and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
