adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Florentin has found a home! His story: Florentin – his name alone sounds special. And he is just that: a mixed-breed puppy around 4 months old, about 40 cm in circumference and weighing 8 kg, with the most beautiful black-and-white fur you can imagine. His coloring resembles a Border Collie, but surely he still has other great genes in him. His strong paws suggest he will reach a shoulder height of around 55 to 60 cm. Our Florentin was found on the unforgiving street and was the only puppy from his litter to survive. How touching it is that this little guy has remained so friendly and affectionate. At first a bit shy, he warms up within minutes, seeks the company of people, and then doesn't leave their side. He delights in every pat, enjoys being picked up, and shows his wonderful nature: curious, cuddly, and simply lovable. As befits a young dog, Florentin wants to explore the world and learn new things. Border collies, like the Border Collie, are generally extremely smart, attentive, and persistent. They need experienced people who can foster their intelligence and enjoy being active together – whether on long walks, through puzzle games, or in dog sports. Thanks to their close bond with their people, these dogs become loyal, reliable, and enthusiastic lifelong partners. Florentin still has to go through the typical puppy phase and understand the ABCs of doggy life – from house training to leash manners – and will need a lot of praise and love during this process. Puberty is also on the horizon, where he will occasionally play the clown, test boundaries, and playfully put his people to the test. During this exciting time, patience, understanding, and a bit of humor will be particularly in demand. Currently, Florentin lives in a Romanian shelter and shows a very open and playful attitude toward his fellow animals there. In his new home, he would surely appreciate regular contact with other dogs. A garden or plenty of space to run around would be the perfect home for him. He hasn't met any cats yet. After a positive neutering, he is age-appropriate and not yet ready. Who will give puppy Florentin a home where he can be happy? Many thanks, Imke K.-R., for taking on his namesship. As of 30.10. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped. Some symptoms here are age-related.

About Florentin

What life with Florentin looks like

Florentin is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Florentin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Florentin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Florentin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Florentin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Florentin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Florentin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Florentin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
