Florrie

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Meet Florrie ❤️ If ever there was a dog who deserves her happy ending, it’s Florrie. At around 10 years old, this beautiful girl has come such a long way since arriving into our care. Life hasn’t always been kind to her, but despite everything she has been through, Florrie has remained one of the most loving, affectionate and gentle dogs you could ever hope to meet. The truth is, we desperately want to see her find her forever home. Florrie is beautifully settled in herself. She’s past the chaos of puppyhood and knows exactly who she is. She enjoys her comforts, loves her people, and is happiest when she’s spending time with those she trusts. While she manages brilliantly in the kennels with dogs all around her and causes absolutely no fuss, Florrie would much prefer not to share her home with other animals. She doesn’t enjoy dogs in her personal space and isn’t suitable to live with cats, so we’re looking for a pet-free home where she can be the centre of someone’s world. And honestly, she deserves that. Florrie is a dream to walk on the lead, fully house-trained, fully crate-trained and has wonderful manners. She’s the kind of dog who slots into your life effortlessly. But her favourite thing of all? People. She adores affection, loves a cuddle, enjoys a good belly rub and still has a playful side that will make you smile every day. Whether it’s heading off on an adventure, enjoying a leisurely walk, or curling up beside you on the sofa at the end of the day, Florrie is simply happy to be included. For someone looking for a loyal companion, a best friend, and a dog who will fill their home with love, Florrie is everything you could wish for. She’s quiet, settled, affectionate, and still loves an adventure when one comes along. The perfect combination of companion and snuggle buddy. She has waited patiently for her turn. Now all she needs is someone to see just how special she really is. Could Florrie be the missing piece in your life? ❤️

About Florrie

What life with Florrie looks like

Florrie is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Almost Home Animal Rescue NI in Belfast.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Florrie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Florrie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Florrie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Florrie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Almost Home Animal Rescue NI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Florrie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Florrie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Florrie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
