Adopt Flynn

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 11 months

Flynn is looking for his home – with love, patience, and understanding. Flynn is only 11 months old and has already experienced more in his young life than a dog should. Together with his siblings Yuki and Eira, he came to us as a found dog from an animal shelter – scared, emaciated, and without trust. The three are from a double merle pairing, which often brings with it serious health issues. While his siblings are deaf and deaf-blind, Flynn was very lucky and is physically healthy. But the marks of his difficult start are still there. Flynn is a friendly young dog who seeks the company of humans but still feels insecure with touch. Here, he needs people who can show him with calmness and patience that he can let his guard down. Once he has trust, he bonds closely with "his" person – which makes him particularly endearing but also means that he likely cannot be left alone. Flynn is terrified of children, so we are looking for a home without children where he can find peace. He is also unsure in interactions with other dogs and prefers to avoid contact. On the leash, he is calm, oriented towards his person, and avoids conflicts. With targeted training and confident dog interactions, more security is being worked on for him. We wish for Flynn a quiet, stable environment with people who understand his past and can gradually bring him into life outside the animal shelter. He does not need perfection – but time, patience, and reliability. And who gives him this chance gets a very special companion: Flynn is a typical young dog with a lot of energy, curiosity, and a smart head. He loves to learn and grow together with his person. Flynn is waiting for someone who is not just looking for a dog but for a heart that still needs to bloom.

About Flynn

What life with Flynn looks like

Flynn is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Kaiserslautern in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flynn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flynn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Kaiserslautern handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flynn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flynn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Kaiserslautern will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flynn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flynn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Kaiserslautern early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flynn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
