adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Franklin has found a home! His story: Franklin is one of those puppies that make you smile involuntarily when you look at him. Tricolor, with a curious look, a bit gentlemanly, a bit chatterbox. And with his name, he almost sounds like he already has a life plan. Despite being only about four months old, Franklin stands at the beginning of his own story. He belongs to a large litter that didn't have an easy start. Ten puppies were born, unfortunately one didn't make it, and two were allowed to stay locally in Romania. Franklin lives together with his siblings in the foster home of Diana Larissa in Bistrița, where they are well cared for and slowly learn that people can be very good. He shows puppy-like friendliness, sociability, and openness, getting along just as well with other dogs as with people, bringing the best prerequisites for a relaxed family life. When fully grown, Franklin is expected to be medium-sized. His mother weighs about 15 kilograms, the father is unknown. His tricolor fur makes him visually something special, but much more important is what is inside him. Franklin is curious, playful, and attentive without being pushy. He likes to observe, try out, and gather experiences. Just as a young puppy should. Of course, he still doesn't know the dog ABC, leash walking, house training, everyday life, and routines must still be learned. Puberty still lies ahead, a phase in which sweet puppies suddenly become small personalities with their own ideas. With patience, humor, clear structures, and positive reinforcement, Franklin will master this time well. A visit to a positively working dog training class would be a wonderful support and a beautiful project for both human and dog. What is important is that his future people have the desire to accompany him through his growth, give him security, and explain the world to him at his own pace. Franklin travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas, age-wise not yet neutered. He of course brings his EU pet passport and can travel after a positive health check. So, if you are looking for a young dog who brings charm, wit, and a lot of development potential, you should definitely meet Franklin. A heartfelt thank you to Johanna, who gave Franklin his name and thus a piece of his identity. As of: 10.02. Some symptoms here are age-related.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 10.02.2026

About Franklin

What life with Franklin looks like

Franklin is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Franklin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Franklin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Franklin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Franklin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Franklin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Franklin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Franklin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
