Frauke

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · 4 years

I am Frauke … and was found. Unfortunately, I have been waiting at the animal shelter for several years. I am not just any dog, but I have learned a lot and today I walk calmly on the leash. I am looking for dog-experienced people who can lead me confidently and consistently. Would you like to know more about me? Outdoors, I am quite fearless, do not need marathon walks, and love to bathe. I immediately notice if someone is unsure – clear, calm leadership is crucial for me. My challenge lies indoors: my own resources (rest areas, food) are extremely important to me. I do not tolerate strangers in my "area" without good reason. Therefore, I need my own dog room, separated by a door barrier, for the adjustment period. Couches and beds are off-limits, especially at the beginning, so I do not have to defend additional resources. With good management at feeding time and clear rules, cohabitation after the adjustment phase will be very relaxed. I do not value fellow animals and want to be a single dog; outdoors, I mostly ignore other dogs. Whether and how well I can also be alone sometimes, we need to test and practice patiently if necessary. I can also live in the city, but not on the upper floor (no many stairs, no elevator with strangers). I wish for … dog-experienced people (maximum 1-2 trusted people), who can read dog language safely, manage consistently, and give me clear, fair rules from the start. Children should not live in the household – generally not too many people or chaos. And please plan several get-to-know-you sessions at the animal shelter. My animal caretakers are happy to help set up the dog room, manage, and provide training support. Please note: in Berlin (and other states), a muzzle and leash are required for me; also, a landlord approval is needed. In Brandenburg, I could be placed without restrictions – a muzzle still belongs to my management permanently. Are we a perfect match? Please contact me with a meaningful inquiry through the form below – I would be thrilled if someone wanted to love me again.

About Frauke

What life with Frauke looks like

Frauke is a medium-sized adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Resource guarding behavior, requires separate dog room with gate, no upper floor living, muzzle and leash requirements in Berlin, needs very experienced handlers with maximum 1-2 people

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frauke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frauke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frauke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frauke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frauke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frauke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frauke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
