Adopt Freya

Mixed Breed · Female

Freya is a free-roaming mare who was already in the care of the responsible animal shelter, but they now say she is clearly a pet. She lived at the Ranch of the Horse Protection Society (Alisa branch), which recently moved. There, volunteers made sure that the mares who came to them lived well. Freya was cared for twice due to issues with her hoof. She was supposedly so wild that she had to be sedated before each treatment. Then the problem recurred. Therefore, the volunteer again contacted the animal shelter, which apparently rejected her. Therefore, we took her into our animal shelter, where we found that the last hoof needed to be amputated. After the surgery, we will take her into the animal shelter and try socialization, so she won't need to go back to the location. SPECIAL FEATURES: suitable for a calm environment, not suitable for living with children, amputation of the last hoof. Due to the continuous need to accept new stray mares, you can also greatly help us with temporary placement. Temporary fostering is a form of volunteer work where you offer accommodation for any of our mares who have been waiting for a new home for a long time. The temporary foster parent takes care of a safe environment, space, time, and love, while we take care of all costs related to the foster animal. Including covering all veterinary costs.

About Freya

What life with Freya looks like

Freya is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Zavod Muri in Vransko.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Zavod Muri handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Zavod Muri will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Freya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Zavod Muri early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
