Fridoline

Female · 8 years

I am Fridoline, a charming, slightly older parakeet lady, full of life despite my small physical limitations. I came from an estate and am seeking a wonderful forever home. Would you like to learn more about me? In the animal shelter, I present myself as a quiet, reserved observer, preferring to go at my own pace. As I am not a particularly good flier, I have been bullied by the other birds and now live separately here—thereby, I am much more relaxed. However, this naturally makes me lonely, and I long for a loving, older, and equally reserved male fellow animal to share my everyday life with. I have bilateral knee osteoarthritis, but I am currently bravely managing it. Should I become more restricted in the future, it may be necessary to give me occasional pain medication. For this, people with some experience or the willingness to learn about administering medication to birds are needed. An outdoor enclosure is generally possible, but my shelter space must be heated so that at least 18 degrees are maintained in the winter. Warmth is especially important for me due to the osteoarthritis. The enclosure should be at least 4 meters long, 1 to 2 meters deep, and about 2 meters high. It is important to have many climbing opportunities so that I can move around easily, even though I don't fly much—Bird Lady wants to stay fit, after all. 🙂 I don't desire an exciting life, but rather security, company, and people who are willing to take responsibility. Whoever opens my heart will receive a grateful, gentle companion who simply wants to arrive. Would you like to give me a wonderful home?

About Fridoline

What life with Fridoline looks like

Fridoline is a small adult bird waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

Note from the shelter: Bilateral knee arthritis requiring potential pain medication and heated environment (minimum 18°C). Poor flyer due to physical limitations. Needs spacious aviary with climbing structures.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fridoline, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fridoline?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fridoline on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fridoline if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fridoline already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fridoline isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fridoline and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
