Adopt Frodo

Podenco · Male · Adult · 4 years

Protectora Malaga Animals and Plants: Input February 19, 2026: Frodo came to us from the killing station with terrible sadness in his eyes. We don't know much about his past, but he was abandoned and abused by those who were supposed to protect him. At first, fear completely paralyzed him. He didn't come near and stayed cautious, hidden in his corner. With patience and love, Frodo began taking big steps forward. Now he comes close, seeks human contact, and shows the noble heart he carries within. At first, he is a shy dog, but incredibly obedient, gentle, and respectful. He just needs time to heal and regain trust. Frodo gets along great with other dogs. He is a very calm and playful dog. He only needs a patient family that understands that true love is not temporary - it is lasting. Frodo is waiting for a chance. ADOPT FRODO AND YOU WILL HAVE NO REGRETS!

About Frodo

What life with Frodo looks like

Frodo is a medium-sized adult podenco dog waiting at description in AL Ridderkerk.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frodo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frodo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. description handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frodo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frodo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — description will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frodo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frodo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with description early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frodo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
