Garfield

Mixed Breed Cat · Male

Hello everyone! My name is Garfield, I know what you are all thinking…. how strange my eye looks but don’t you think it makes me unique and different? My personality: I am a sweet loving boy, at first, I may be a little shy but it doesn’t take me long to get used to you. I love having lots of fuss and being around the humans here, as soon as I see them I’m out of bed chirping away and just being a typical ginger boy. I haven’t shown any signs of wanting to play yet, but I have been showing some interest in feathers. My ideal home: I would love a quiet home with not too much activity going off, I am a very chilled boy and most likely spend a lot of time snuggled up somewhere or pottering around the garden. I have lived with another cat before and I could do it again potentially with slow introductions. I have also been around dogs before so this could also be an option! I would be happiest living with children who are a little older due to me being a little shy and not liking too much activity and loud noises. Access to outdoors: I have always been an active outdoor cat but with my age getting older I may prefer to start staying in more. Toileting: I am litter-trained, I will use either grit or wood litter. Did you know: Ginger cats have the best personalities, they are known to be very affectionate and people-oriented! My adoption fee is £125

About Garfield

What life with Garfield looks like

Garfield is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Rain Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Garfield, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Garfield?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rain Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Garfield on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Garfield if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rain Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Garfield already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Garfield isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rain Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Garfield and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
