Adopt Gaspar

Mixed Breed · Male · 1 year

Sometimes our animal rescue association receives very special cases, and that's what happened with Gaspar. They found him on the road, at risk of being hit by a car, without separating from his already deceased companion. They were able to pick him up and give him a second chance. How long has Gaspar been on the streets? Has he known a different life? Has he had a home, a family, a name, or is this the first time someone is giving him an identity? We don't know. But we do know that his new life is about to begin. He's only one year old and still retains the joy, curiosity, and playfulness of puppies. And that sparkle in the eyes of a young puppy with his whole life ahead of him. Because he's special, he eats differently from most dogs. He has to eat on two legs instead of four due to a stomach issue he has. Nothing that would be an effort for a family that wants him. At the animal rescue association, he has his "throne" to sit and eat, and he gets all excited when he sees that mealtime is approaching. He already knows his routine and runs around in joy. Apart from mealtime, he leads a perfectly normal life, just like his companions. He's very affectionate and has the intelligence of a Podenco hound. If someone approaches and pets him, he melts. We can only tell good things about him. Now we are part of his story. The animal rescue association is not the right place for him. Really, it's not for anyone, but for him, especially not, given his circumstances. He arrived weakened, but he's recovering. Although we're very attentive to him and ensuring he eats properly, in a home with a loving and attentive family, he'll recover faster. He's very beautiful and will become even more precious. He just needs more attention than can be given in the animal shelter. Gaspar has a lot to live and learn. He's sharp and salty. We know he'll brighten the life of whoever adopts him. Come and meet him, and we know you'll like him. If you're interested in adopting Gaspar, send us an email. Don't forget to include his reference number: 24836, and that adoption is only possible if you reside in the province of Málaga. Don't hesitate, Gaspar is waiting for you.

About Gaspar

What life with Gaspar looks like

Gaspar is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora Malaga in Málaga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Must eat standing on hind legs due to gastric problem - requires elevated feeding position

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gaspar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gaspar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Malaga handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gaspar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gaspar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Malaga will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gaspar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gaspar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Malaga early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gaspar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
