Adopt GEORGINA

Golden Retriever · Female · Senior · 10 years

Female, 10 years old, 35 kg. Breed: Golden Retriever/Border Collie mix. Origin: Spain. Available for adoption in: Switzerland, France. Current location: Foster family in Cordoba. Arrived at the shelter on: Friday, June 19, 2026. The gentle GEORGINA with such a soft gaze. Georgina was found after the major floods that affected Andalusia a few months ago. Unfortunately, we don't know her exact story, but everything suggests she got lost during this disaster. She was then recovered and taken to the shelter in Cordoba. Given her age, a terrible decision would have been made in the short term. GEORGINA probably lived a long time with people who apparently took care of her, but she was obviously not microchipped and no one bothered to look for her. We were informed by a volunteer friend on site and decided to save her life. She was taken out of the shelter with a great chance of finding a temporary foster home on site. Despite what she has been through, GEORGINA has remained a deeply kind, calm and very human-oriented dog. She exudes a reassuring and peaceful presence, with this touching sensitivity often found in dogs that have lived a lot. She is a calm, affectionate and tender dog who enjoys human company and quiet moments. Her gaze speaks immediately: GEORGINA is a dog that touches the heart. Physically, she is in very good condition for her age: beautiful long and thick coat, nice harmonious silhouette, bright eyes, good general condition. Her initial blood tests are reassuring, and the tests for Mediterranean diseases are all negative, a miracle. Today, we especially hope to give her a real second chance: a warm and stable home where she can finally rest, be loved and fully enjoy the rest of her life. Story: Found after local floods in Cordoba. Taken to the shelter April 2026. Taken out of the shelter by Maria S. & Cœurs de Chiens. With humans: Yes. With other dogs: Yes. Special features: GEORGINA probably has arthritis, so she needs a proper bed, an orthopedic bed, and a ramp for the car. Omega 3 rich diet, immune support supplements and joint strengtheners are necessary. Adoption profile: Senior people or not, who do not like large dogs. But in good physical shape despite everything. Outside the city, house or farm with plenty of space, secured garden is a big plus. With a vehicle. Important: Due to GEORGINA's age (estimated), we will only ask for a transportation fee of CHF 150.00 in case of adoption. We are opening adoptions for the nearby France, very close to Geneva.

About GEORGINA

What life with GEORGINA looks like

GEORGINA is a senior golden retriever dog waiting at Association Coeurs de Chiens in Lausanne (VD).

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting GEORGINA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about GEORGINA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Coeurs de Chiens handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw GEORGINA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt GEORGINA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Coeurs de Chiens will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is GEORGINA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if GEORGINA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Coeurs de Chiens early rather than rehoming privately; they know GEORGINA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
